PRP INJECTION THERAPY

WHAT IS PRP INJECTION THERAPY?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Injection Therapy is a safe, effective treatment that uses your own blood and built in healing processes to reduce pain, repair damage, and speed up the healing of injured joints, tendons, and ligaments.
This state of the art procedure is performed in our clinic and is typically complete within 1 hour. If you are looking for a minimally invasive, natural, cost-effective alternative to surgery – this may be right for you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) obtained from your own blood is injected into an injured, or affected area to stimulate the regrowth/repair of damaged tissue.

HOW IS IT PERFORMED?

The procedure involves drawing a small amount of blood, and then spinning it in a state of the art centrifuge to separate its components.
The portion of the blood containing the richest concentration of platelets is extracted and then injected into the affected area(s).

HOW CAN PRP THERAPY HELP YOU?

We use autologous PRP, which means in theory that anyone can have and benefit from this treatment. Specifically, PRP Injection Therapy is used for:
  • Osteoarthritis: Knee, Hip, or Shoulder
  • Ligament Injuries: Knee (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL) or Plantar Fasciitis
  • Tendon Injuries: Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow, Rotator Cuff Tendon, Achilles Tendon, Hip Tendons, Hip Bursitis, or Patellar Tendon
  • Muscle Injuries
  • Joint Sprains/Strains: Ankle, Elbow, Shoulder, Wrist, Finger

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF PRP THERAPY?

It is a non-surgical, non-opioid, natural treatment option to help reduce your pain and get your life back.
PRP Therapy promotes the regeneration of soft tissue and healing within the body without the risks and extended recovery time often associated with surgery, the risks of opioid use, and the potential risks of rejection by artificial medications/injections.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS?

Most patients begin to experience relief in their pain in as little as 2-3 months.
Over a period of 6-12 months, the majority of our patients continue to have improvement in pain, a decrease in inflammation, and an increase in mobility and function.
For many, these treatments can help get their life back.

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

  • We recommend that you begin to perform light activities in the week following your procedure, and after 4-6 weeks you can resume normal activities.
  • The PRP typically stimulates a series of biological responses, so you may experience slightly increased pain in the treatment area for 7-10 days following the procedure.
  • Vigorous exercise or impact should be avoided for 1 month depending on the areas being treated.
  • Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medicine for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.
